Come help Orange Environment celebrate 30 Years of operation and important service to the community at the beautiful Warwick Valley Winery. Ticket include: Wine, Hard Cider and Hors d’oeuvres. Soon’s Apple Cider and Scotty’s Pies for dessert.

Performing will be the very talented Warwick resident E’lissa Jones and Band. E’lissa Jones is a professional singer, prolific songwriter, violinist, pianist, and guitarist. She is an exceptionally talented artist with a rich melancholy voice and velvety quality reminiscent of jazz singers. Her influential style includes folk, jazz, rock, and R&B music in her catalogue of over 250 original songs.

This young artist performed background vocals with blues legend Wilson Pickett from 2001-2006 touring with Ray Charles, Al Green and many more. E’lissa, in her folk music realm, has also opened for legend Pete Seeger and Steve Forbert, and has played violin for old favorites like Bobby Vee.

a foot-stomping Barn Dance! 

Orange Environment will be celebrating almost 30 years of
advocacy and action  protecting the
environment with a fun-filled old-fashioned Barn Dance Saturday, March 24^th at 7:00PM
at The Wisner Barn, 30 Wisner Road, Warwick.  Come join us for country dancing, snacks,
desserts, delectable pies, and beverages included in the cover price of $15 per
person or $30 per family (chaperoned kids under 16 free).

Orange County’s Glory Bound Band — and caller
Joe Miedema  — will be calling out the
steps for some swing-your-partner square dancing in the beautiful Wisner Barn. He’ll
teach you the steps & get you out there dancing to some lively country
rhythms.

So…bring yourself, bring your partner, bring your kids and
your friends…but definitely come on over and help us celebrate Orange
Environment’s commitment to preserving the beauty and resources of Orange
County and its environs!

Rt. 17 Westbound from
Monroe, Central Valley and Cornwall

Take exit 127 (Sugar
Loaf/Warwick), at end of ramp turn left onto Lehigh Avenue.

At light (17M) go
straight, following signs for Warwick/County 13- this puts you onto Kings
Highway.            Follow County
13/Kings Highway through downtown Sugar Loaf toward Warwick (your total
distance on Kings Highway from 17m to the Wisner Barn is approx. 7 miles).  Pass Jiffy Stop Food Mart, Applewood Winery,
Kings Estate and Paradise View Estates.
Pass Kings Elementary School, take your next left onto Wisner Road
(landmark: Calvary Baptist Church).  Pass
over RR crossing (make sure to stop) and barn is up on your right (barn says,
“Stone Bridge Station”).  Park
in small parking lot or along the road.

Rt. 17 Eastbound from
Middletown and Goshen

Take exit 126
(Chester/Florida), at end of ramp turn left, go over overpass.  At McDonalds/CVS there is a light, turn right
onto 17m.  At next light, turn right onto
County 13/Kings Highway, following signs for Warwick and Sugar Loaf.  Follow directions above.

From Downtown Warwick

From Mobil Stations
near hospital take Kings Highway toward Sugar Loaf. You will drive approx. 1.9
miles, turning right onto Wisner Road.
Pass over RR crossing, Barn on right.

Irene, Irene, best reason for restoring wetlands I’ve ever seen

In the recent press, now dominated by the devastation wreaked on Orange County and the region by Irene, there was scant coverage (except in the Strauss papers) of a fascinating conflict taking shape in Orange County’s black dirt region. The federal government has been purchasing land in order to restore wetlands. As demonstrated at the wonderful Wallkill River National Wildlife Reserve, mostly south of our county, the restoration of this historic region’s wetlands causes an amazing flourishing of nature, also covered in the recent press.
